Summary – The flying trapeze builds confidence and strength of both body and mind, and our class is designed to help people overcome their fear of heights and acquire a little taste of the circus. All this is performed with safety harnesses, and through demonstration, explanation, and encouragement, the instructors create an exciting and exhilarating experience that will be remembered for years to come.
Safety - At the beginning of the class participants are given instructions on all dangers and the appropriate steps to avoid any injury.
Practice (low) Bar – Next the instructors provide and secure safety harnesses to all the participants, and following a demonstration on the practice bar, the new flyers get their first taste, by hanging up-side down by their knees and stretching their arms out behind them.
Ladder – Now the flyers are ready to take to wing, but first they must climb. An instructor attaches the safety ascender to the flyers belt, which prevents falling, and the now ‘intrepid’ flyer climbs all the way up to the platform, where the safety lines are attached and the ascender is unclipped.
Swinging – After a small step and an enormous amount of courage, the flyer is off! Swinging through the air with the greatest of ease? First, up come their legs and they hook them onto the bar, followed by the rush of “Hands Off”, after this, the now flyer must dismount by laying back into the net or performing the Back Flip.
TheCatch – A number of practices later, the flyer is in the air, arms outstretched, hands grasping the catchers wrists in a mix of fear induced adrenaline and unequalled ecstasy.
Certificate – After two attempted catches the now dazzling flyer is given printed proof of all feats accomplished in the form of their very own personal certificate.
